Introduction Computerized fluoroscopic based navigation was popularized in fracture fixation with the advantages of reducing radiation exposure to both surgical teams and patients. However the navigation process may require the attachment of patient trackers to bones, causing additional surgical trauma. We would like to demonstrate the clinical feasibility of Jig-mounted tracking system in fracture fixation.
Method We demonstrated the technique of using Jig-mounted tracking computerized fluoroscopic based navigation system (BrainLAB) in inserting distal locking screws of femur and tibia intramedullary nail, determining locking screws length and position in MIPO of femur and fracture tibia fractures.
Result The Jig-mounted tracking technique is feasible in assisting fracture fixation. It is easy to operate without much additional instruments during the procedure.
Conclusion The Jig-mounted tracking technique allowed for acceptable accuracy in fracture fixation with the benefit of reducing radiation exposure.
