Abstract

The achievement of embryonic stem (ES) cells and iPS cells has been drawing great attention to studying of reprogramming mechanisms and the potential application in regenerative medicine. We have isolated ES cells from normal human embryos and human parthenogenesis embryos; we have also established mouse therapeutic cloning (nuclear transfer, NT) ES and iPS cell lines by reprogramming of somatic cells. We demonstrated the true pluripotency of these ntES and iPS cells, moreover we determined the marker of pluripotency of mice pluripotent cells. With further investigation of the safety issue, these cell lines will provide powerful system to explore the differentiation, plasticity and the totipotency, and thus establishing the safe therapeutic cloning and mammalian cell therapy strategies, these cells will be great cell resources for regenerative medicine and tissue engineering R&D.
