Vi Chu, Ph.D.

R&D Manager, Stem Cells & Cell Biology

EMD-Millipore

Vi Chu obtained her PhD in RNA biochemistry in 2000 at Columbia University in the Howard Hughes laboratory of Dr. Anna Pyle. From 2000-2004, Dr. Chu was a postdoctoral fellow at the Salk Institute in the laboratory of Dr. Fred Gage. At the Salk, Dr. Chu focused on establishing conditions to direct the differentiation of neural stem cells to specific CNS lineages for gene expression profiling studies. In the process, she uncovered the presence of L1 retrotransposons in neural stem cells. Dr. Chu joined Millipore in 2004 and became R&D manager in 2007. At EMD-Millipore, (a division of Merck KGaA), Dr. Chu’s team is focused on developing media reagents, characterization tools and kits to facilitate research in stem cell biology, reprogramming and cellular biology.
