i am so impressed by your efforts in giving other people suggestions.

you've mentioned your were taking too much time in prepareing the examinations and ignored the classes，the internship ,i have the same situation ,last month ,i took the ielts and skip classes.

i am just a student in an ordinary medical school (jinan uni)
i have made up my mind to do research abroad. in your suggestion ,GRE is neccecery ,however i am in my forth year now ,so i guess i don't have enough time to prepare GRE ,i don't wanna to skip my internship .

so i have this idea:
i wanna to go to australia to get my master degree firstly,but it's hard to get the scholarship even though my gpa is high (little above 4.00),i don't have any paper,but i try to leran more research method this days. my interest is in the brain diease ,especially the alzheimer's disease
do you think this is possible? will you be so kind to give me some ideas

I don't think it's worth pursuing master degree in Australia for it will cost quite a lot of money and if your final aim is going to the States for Phd this master degree will not make any sense except for wasting time and money. But you could do as foriegn devils have been considering their degrees much more seriously than that got in China.

I know it's extremely tough to get your internship done well and sit for GRE as well but I have to say it's the best way. Otherwise if I were you I would go to a company correlated with medicine after graduation and spend one year preparing GRE, but you must make your final decision carefully as it's a very big challenge and you may have nothing paid back with 100% efforts.

Anyway all the words above are just my own opinion. You are still so young and no rush to give yourself so many plans and stain. Good luck.

答：buddist,I don't if you have the certificate or licence which allows you being a clinically traditional medicine doctor in China. If you have it, that will be much easier for as far as I know traditional medicine doctors are very welcome in the UK or wherever and they belong to the group with special techniqu like chinese chef which means you may apply to work here without GRE or Tofel but the preliminary condition is you have to find a place which agree to accept you as their employee and will get your work permit done (not 100% sure). You could check the immigration rules online which will give you a clear picture.

答：helen,According to your background I think you should be able to get a postdoc position as long as you want and put some efforts on it. But when is the best time. As you are just admitted to work in hospital, you'd better do a few years clinical stuff then get a chance through public or private way to go abroad as either postdoc or vistor, which will make you get more space for your later career that means after staying a couple of years outside you are still able to choose either to get back to your previous hospital pursuing your clinical career or keep going your overseas life. anyway that's just my own advice, you are the boss for yourself.

问：我现在预防医学硕士毕业，在一家事业单位上班，我很想出国去看看，是不是只能靠出去读博士这条路呢？我想去美国，可是美国的博士至少是五年吧，我不知道是不是应该放弃国内找到的这份工作，可以给我一些建议吗？万分感激！

答：1. if you have money ( don't need too much), you could apply for one year master in the UK ( need either tofel or ielts scores),
2. In terms of PhD in the States, I think you can just study 2 or 3 years for a master degree with which you are able to apply for a job same as PhD degree. But you must have GRE and Tofel marks for application.
3. For your job in China, i have no idea what is it. It must be a relatively easy work so that you feel quite hard to give it up. The only thing I can suggest is don't dream away your time, I always say we are still young and many things are not as final as they seem, you are still able to rechoose your life and career 3 or 5 years later.

答：in terms of your condition, the best way is to go abroad 2 or 3 years doing your project (apply for a postdoc position closely associated with your research project) then go back to do your thesis.
according to my knowledge, you have a quite good background for you have enough clinical experiences no matter which level it is and you have some papers published as well which proved your previous research work. So be confident to apply. Good luck.

答：1. In terms of your situation, you'd better choose America as your final destination for it's getting harder and hard to get a clinical position in European countries so if you are still keen to be a clinical doctor in the near future I would like to advise u to the States where you will have more chances.
2. Your background ( forget your GRE marks) is quite strong with which you should be able to easily get a postdoc position for 2 or 3 years to finish your doctoral project, then go back to get your thesis done, meanwhile you could prepare for USMLE
3. Even if everything goes very well and smoothly, you totally need at least 6 to 7 years to prepare all the tests, post application and eventually finish your resident training. Just let you know how far you have to go and there must be many unimaginable pains you have to endure. But don't be scared, work hard and never give up, you will get what you want.

答：1, As you said you have strong interest in your surgery project, why you want to go abroad for PhD or postdoc that mostly are associated with research. Being a clinical doctor abroad is never ever as optimistic as you thought, leave alone being a surgeon. In the States it's almost impossible for a chinese from mainland to pursue surgeon career, while in the UK it's also much harder than being other field doctors.
2, If you are going to be a surgeon for your future career, you'd better stay in China at this moment. 5 years later when you step into a higher level, you could either apply to do postdoc or register for a doctoral degree in China then go outside to do your thesis for 2 or 3 years, after that you are still able to get back to pursue your career. But if you go abroad just after graduation, I have to say 95% you have no chance to be a surgeon although you may be a GP or other field doctor.
3, if you insist, I think you'd better sit for GRE as well though they never say GRE score is needed. But with higher GRE mark you will be very competitive compared with other applicants without it.
4, In terms of Ielts, I can't say if you have time to do that or whatever for I don't know you at all, I don't know if you are kind of person who is able to arrange time efficiently or just likes dreaming your time away. That's really depending yourself.
anyway, before making your final decision to go abroad, make sure what you want and what are you going to do for your future.
