Emilie Marcus博士93年毕业于耶鲁大学，拥有神经生物学博士，她在SALK 研究所和UCSD完成博士后训练 发表过多篇论文和10篇综述文章。98年她加入细胞出版社，担任细胞神经杂志的资深编辑，2001年升为该杂志主编；2003年被提拔成《Cell》杂志主编和细胞出版（Cell Press）执行编辑。在她的主持带领下，《Cell》杂志在内容和领域上进一步扩展，扭转了发行量略有滑坡的趋势，在发表高质量论文，继续巩固提升影响因子方面做得很有起色。
