Introduction
The xTAG Respiratory Viral Panel FAST (RVP FAST) is a qualitative nucleic acid multiplex test intended for the simultaneous detection and identification of multiple respiratory virus nucleic acids in nasopharyngeal swabs (NP swabs) from individuals suspected of respiratory tract infections (RTIs). The following virus types and subtypes are identified using the RVP FAST:
Influenza A, Influenza A subtype H1, Influenza A subtype H3, Influenza B, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV), Rhinovirus, and Adenovirus.
The purpose of this multi-site study was to establish the clinical performance of the RVP FAST assay in detecting the clinically relevant respiratory viral targets in patients suspected of having upper and/or lower RTIs.
