Dear Colleagues
The recent earthquake and following events in Christchurch have left us all concerned for our fellow kiwis and international visitors. Our thoughts go out to all New Zealanders involved and their friends and families.
I want to assure you that the Congress destination - Auckland, is in no way affected. There is some distance between the two cities, they are on different islands and tectonic plates. To give you some reference; Auckland is as far from Christchurch as New York is from Atlanta, LA is from Salt Lake City, Berlin is from Rome, and London is from Milan. It's twice the distance from London to Edinburgh. Auckland is still very safe in this regard as is the vast majority of the country and its most significant tourist areas.
