The sessions will be dedicated to retinal detachments wathever their type, serous, tractional or rhegmatogenous. We will specially analyse the progress we made, since 2001 Biarritz congress, on:
- our pathogenetic comprehension and the following strategy we decide
- our technique of diagnosis and of analysis of clinical details
- our prevention methods (prevention of the disease, prevention of complications)
- our treatment efficacy: did we improved our results thanks to new techniques, new instruments, new vitrectomy
machines, new illuminating or viewing systems, new tamponades

As a starting discussion basis, we will present the EVRS RD Study results. Each member must participate to this study (information at www.evrs.org/pages/2011/RDStudy.htm). In doing so, he will not only participate in the largest study in retinal detachments but also receive a reduction fee for the congress inscription as well as a free entrance to “The Malta Experience” show.
The EVRS membership survey made in 2008 demonstrated that European surgeons differ in their approaches in many basic things among each other and with respect to their overseas colleagues. We will see if this is also the case for retinal detachments.
