The Annual Scientific Congress
College’s major educational annual activity
largest multi-disciplinary surgical meeting held in Australia and New ZealandFellows with a valuable opportunity to present their experience, wisdom andopinions to their colleagues, in a challenging and truly international forumdifferent scientific programs that offer participants the opportunity to learnand experience first hand the advances in surgical specialties.
The ASC consists of plenary and
concurrent sessions for sections. Each participating section invites an eminentauthority as a distinguished visitor, around whom the specialty program isbuilt. Distinguished visitors are selected from overseas or within Australia.
The ASC is held over four days and
provides ample opportunity for inter-disciplinary as well as specialiseddiscussion.
The first general scientific meeting
of the College was held in Canberra in 1928. Since then, meetings have beenheld annually, with the venue rotating through the main cities of Australia,New Zealand and Asia.
