    On behalf of the organizing committee, we warmly invite you to attend the 3rd Conference On Ion Channels,Structure,Function & Therapeutics, to be held in Shanghai during July 24-27, 2011. The objective of the conference is to encourage communication and scientific interaction amongst domestic and international scholars of diverse disciplines with a shared interest in ion channels, with particular focus on channels that offer potential as targets for therapeutic intervention. The conference will be organized around a series of focused symposiums, aiming to illuminate the molecular mechanisms of ion channel function and dysfunction, to probe their roles in physiology and diseases, and to discuss the present and future prospects for therapeutics. Each symposium will be opened by invited speeches by established principal investigators and then followed by short oral communications by postdocs and students, selected from submitted abstracts. Participants are particularly encouraged to present their data in the poster sessions, which provide a valuable forum at which participants can discuss in depth with a cross disciplinary group of ion channel scientists.    Following the success of the two previous conferences in Dalian (2007) and Harbin (2009), the steering committee has selected Shanghai as the location for the 2011 conference. The post-World Expo Shanghai offers convenience in transportation, beautiful skylines, superb venues for meeting and socializing and the host institute, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, provides state-of-the-art lecture hall for seminars, poster and vendor exhibitions, and hotel accommodations at the premium downtown location near the Xujiahui business center, as well as the Shanghai Institutes of Biological Sciences and Fudan University School of Medicine. The organizing committee and Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine are geared to make this conference a great success.
