Mid-term results of the Unicompartmental KneeReplacement

Introduction Mid to long term survivorship of UKR hasimproved from different follow-up studies as a resultof precise patient selection criteria, implant designsand surgical techniques. This study is to review ourmid-term results with the Preservation UnicompartmentKnee Replacement.
Materials and methods 24 UKRs in 20 patients wereperformed from September 2002 to September2004. Female to male ratio is 16 4 with mean age of 65.5(SD 6.99) at time of surgery. They were reviewed at amean follow-up of 55 months (19-69 months) with X-raysand clinical assessment.
Results One patient died during the follow-upperiod. The pre-operative and latest Knee Society KneeScore (KSKS) and Function Score were improved from 43to 90 and 49 to 67, respectively .Conclusion Our study shows that UKR has good mid-termresults in terms of pain relief, range of motion and kneescores.
